Fort Food Walk 2 is the rest of my journey while exploring Fort, Mumbai.
After the first 5 halts, the curious me wanted to know where we would be heading next. But before we head towards the rest of my food walk. Hope you’ve read about the First half of the Food Walk.
Further journey on our Fort Food walk 2 was as follows-
Stop 6: The soda_bottle_openerwala_stop
Don’t go on the name. It’s a name that we gave it because it was a lemon soda stall where soda bottles were opened with a bang and style. The vendor even let is us open the soda with an equal bang. The lemon soda was nothing out of the world but the experience was amazing. We even experimented with the drink by adding green mint chutney to it. Let me warn you it doesn’t taste great.
After all the adventure we moved ahead to our next halt…
Stop 7: The Savoury restaurant
An unexpected halt cause it wasn’t on the itinerary. The Savoury Restaurant serves delicious Arabic food. We ordered many dishes like subtly flavoured Chicken Arab soup, the beautifully plated Mushakkal salad, the elaborate platter of Iffa Dajaj and some more starters. Except for the odd-tasting fish fillets, everything was great. The special Arabic Dessert Kunafa was nice too.
Our next stop was just a building away.
Stop 8: The Ideal Corner.
Ideal Corner is a Parsi cafe that serves a selected menu. It’s usually crowded. We tried out the Salli Boti, an army dish ( mutton in bbq sauce), lagan nu custard, bread pudding, and caramel custard. It was followed by ice cream soda and the raspberry( it tasted like cough syrup) drink.
When I mentioned K. Rustoms even that was accommodated in the plan last minute.
Stop 9: K Rustoms, Churchgate
It’s like a hole in the wall. No big banners, no glamorous interiors. It doesn’t even have a proper sitting arrangement. But who cares when it serves one of the best Sandwich ice creams. We tried coffee, coffee walnut, mango, butterscotch etc.
Stop 10: On public demand, our next halt was the Muchchad pan.
In short, this is the end of Fort food walk 2. Overall it was a day full of Gossip, laughter, chit-chat, learning, photos, and a lot of food.
What more can one ask for Perhaps another food walk to understand all the different foods available in Mumbai?
