Jowar / jawar/sorghum is a gluten-free millet. It is high in fiber and has a good amount of protein, and nutrients like Vitamin B’s, magnesium, zinc, copper, etc.
Sorghum has been an integral part of my eating routine. I often use Jowar Flour to make bhakri but I recently came across jowar Rava by Inner Being and I knew I had to give it a try. So I made the classic Upma using Jowar Rava.
Jowar Rava-1 cup, roasted
Onion- 1, chopped finely
Tomato-1, chopped
Carrots-1/2 cup, chopped finely
Green peas-1/2 cup boiled
Green chillies-2, sliced
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Methi seeds-1/2 Tsp
Urad dal-1 tbsp
Oil-1 tsp
Ginger-1 tsp, grated
Salt- as per taste
Water- 3-4 cups
Chopped coriander and grated coconut for garnish
Lemon-1/2
Jowar upma is great at breakfast, brunch, and even as an evening snack.
Do try it out and let me know what innovations you tried out. Happy cooking.
