Hotel operations post COVID 19 by a Hotelier.

Hotels or rather a Five star hotels have a very different way of working. Behind the grandeur of the hotel, the lavishness, luxury, and extraordinary rates what we do not see is the numerous amount of effort put in by the staff working to give an experience like that.

Getting back to COVID.

Pre and post, five-star hotels always had certain safety and hygiene standards in place, some more some less but it was always there.

So what has COVID changed for us??

Well, actually a lot, compliance with the regular norms of the regulatory bodies. Apart from that there expectations of our guests, safety, and wellbeing of our guests and colleagues.

We have made procedural changes in terms of cleaning and disinfection. We now maintain the warmth of making a guest feel at home while maintaining physical distancing and less interaction. It has been a challenging experience but we are up for it for the safety and comfort of our guests.

In the land of Atithi Devo Bhavah, we are ready to welcome our guests. That too with all the additional safety parameters while ensuring them a wonderful experience.

We have now introduced the thermal screening, hand sanitizers, disinfectant wipes. Apart from the gloves, masks for the guests to use.

Also, all rooms are thoroughly disinfected before the guests arrive. All high touch points or the areas where there is high contact are disinfected with hospital grade disinfectant every hour/ two hours.

Our team has worked hard to ensure we cover all areas and are compliant with all norms. Not only we have this available for the guests, even our colleagues go through thermal screening upon entry. Use of masks throughout the day is mandatory. While anyone who is unwell is refrained from work. Use of hand sanitizers wherever required, frequent hand washing is compulsory.

We ensure that every single thing whether it is food or even nonfood is being sanitized before it enters. Stringent receiving procedures are in place to ensure the safety of our guests.

At every step there is an additional safety parameter added. All our deliveries are only from an approved vendor and of a specified acceptable standard. Due diligence is paid to selecting the sanitizers, disinfectants, masks, other equipment in order to ensure we are leaving no stone turned that would hamper a guest’s experience.

We have worked for months to get the procedures set, and to get the hotel.

To put it simply, yes when you arrive next you will see a lot of changes in a five-star hotel. Changes like screen guards, colleagues wearing masks, gloves, physical distancing, hand sanitizer stations everywhere. There will be more of contactless options available right from check-in or check out.

I don’t see why anyone should not visit hotels post COVID, in fact considering the way we will operate now it would in fact be one of the safest places to be.

Certain precautions that an individual needs to take while traveling would be carrying a hand sanitizer always as we unknowingly touch almost 200 surfaces in an hours’ time. Always wear a mask when out in public areas and maintain physical distancing to avoid COVID.

Lastly, I would request everybody that while visiting a hotel or restaurant to please empathize with the staff there. As much as the virus is dangerous for you it is equally dangerous for them as well. While we try to put all efforts to ensure your safety, it is not be possible without your cooperation.
